Joe's Pasta N Pizza

After a rather underwhelming visit to Palio's Pizza two weeks ago, I decided to hit up the pizza category once more in order to keep seeking a worthy pizzeria. I had heard of Joe's Pasta N Pizza through my sister, who had lunch there some months ago and could guarantee me that the pizzas were one of the best she had ever had. Eager, I accepted and we both decided to go to Joe's.

Entering Joe's

Unfortunately enough, I was feeling under the weather the weekend. I decided to go into the restaurant to order the pizza and go back home to avoid any kind of relapse or being a douchebag and spreading my ailments onto the other customers. Joe's was a short five minute drive into a strip mall. I'll be contrasting it to Palio's due to the fact that both are pizza places (and if I do any others, all will be contrasted). Joe's certainly seems underwhelming from the outside. A big neon sign and some windows comprise all the outside of Joe's. Very simple, and leaving something to wish for.

The Inside & Service

Joe's has a very homey ambience. It is miles way more rustic than Palio's ambience, which works both in and against their favor, depending on the customer's mood. We entered into the establishment and were greeted by a waitress, asking us if she could get us a table. As soon as we told her we just wanted to get some takeout, she quickly directed us to the register and the restaurants cashier gave us a menu to look at on the spot. He was quite helpful and helped us go through the menu quickly. After we placed our order, he let us take a seat to wait for our food. We waited around some ten to fifteen minutes before it was ready and we made our way out of the restaurant.

The Food

We ordered two pizzas, a regular cheese pizza and a cheese pizza with a base of Alfredo sauce. We got a chocolate cheesecake for dessert. I must say that although we ordered very few things, Joe's counts with a very varied menu comprised of pizzas, pastas, subs, soup, salads and meat courses, to name a few. I must also note, huge plus, the prices in Joe's are quite convenient and accessible.

The Pizzas

I must say, in contrast to Palio's these pizzas really up the ante in almost any way. The dough was soft and gentle, but not to the point in which it was overpowering or awkward. The sauce was great, with some garlic that gave that saltiness to the pizza, but the cheese was lacking for my taste, I guess I'll just order extra for the next time I go there. The Alfredo pizza was a reccommendation of my sister, it was good, but the contrast that the tomato sauce gives the pizza dies of if you just add more dairy into the

mix. Really shows the principle that if you add chocolate on chocolate you get chocolate.

Chocolate Cheesecake

One of the most dissappointing items of the menu. This was not even a cheesecake on its own, but a regular chocolate cake, which made the dessert very misleading. By itself was a fairly good cake, but at the end of the day, was not what I ordered and paid for.

Conclusion

Joe's Pizza N Pasta is a small, family owned restaurant that will give you a good experience for a great price. At the end of the day, you will get for what you paid for, which could lead to some misleads in the menu like the one that just happened to me. If you're just in the mood for some good pizza and are just wanting to spend a day in home, I would highly reccommend Joe's for takeout, as their pizza is great. But ambience-wise, you might be wanting to look someplace else if you're looking to dine out.
