Pure Café

After three entries talking about pizza, comfort food and more pizza, I decided to go for a blog post that talked about something a little bit healthier. Behold: Pure’s Café, a small little smoothie and sandwich shop right in Southlake Town Square.

Entering Pure’s

Pure’s is a small establishment that employs a minimalistic façade as a visual concept. Holding hands with the minimalism under Pure’s, is also a sense of cleanliness and freshness, something very common in establishments that offer anything that is remotely linked to health. The restaurant’s kitchen and seating area is split in half by a counter, which has the menu hanging over it and a small open fridge that has some drinks that exclude juices and smoothies.

The Service

Service at Pure’s was brief, but did what it was intended to do. The cashier took our order and asked us to have a seat. Granted, we did wait more than what we were hoping for our food when the restaurant had only two tables busy.

The Food

On our lunch to Pure’s Café, we had a chicken pesto sandwich, a smoked salmon sandwich and a strawberry blast smoothie.

Chicken Pesto Sandwich

I ordered a Chicken Pesto Sandwich without tomatoes, the sandwich itself felt a little flat, flavor wise. It was obvious that they sacrificed flavor for the sake of their concept, as an excess of sodium would practically make them seem as hypocrites. Despite that, texture-wise the sandwich was pleasant, taking into account the whole health concept.

Smoked Salmon Sandwich

Same problem as the Chicken-Pesto Sandwich, lacked probably some element that would give some contrast on flavor, like a sauce or some aioli that would’ve gone the extra mile.

Strawberry Blast

Felt a little off, probably because it had no yogurt (we had ordered it without it). It was a good juice, but it was not extraordinary.

Worth Noting

  • Offers free cucumber water and iced tea

  • Has a small selection of treats and cookies that are gluten free, paleo and vegan. Huge plus!

  • Has a large selection of juices and smoothies and will even do ones out of their menu within request

  • Sandwiches come with either baby carrots or a bag of chips

Conclusion

I was not mesmerized with my meal at Pure’s Café, but being a place that is concentrated in health, that offers gluten free, vegan and paleo options in their meals. Prices are not excessive, and you don’t have to waste your cheat meal in here, which never hurts. So if you ever feel like having a nice lunch out and not hating yourself after finishing the meal, then Pure Café is your place.
