Rodeo Goat

Tonight I ventured into the Fort Worth area, after a friends recommendation, to try out the burger place known as “Rodeo Goat”. Having already heard of this place and reading some promising online reviews, I was down to give this place a shot. Located near downtown Fort Worth, Rodeo Goat is as close as you get when you take a burger joint and turn the “Texan” knob up to eleven.

Entering the Goat

Whilst entering Rodeo Goat, I must admit that I was a little blindsided by the ambience and decoration of the local. As if the name hadn’t revealed enough, the place did actually take its title into its concept (highlight on the RODEO Goat). There were seating for both indoors and an outdoor patio. We chose to go indoors, seated in a corner where we could appreciate some clever artwork (see picture). I must admit, that the ambience at first, while being an unexpected hit, ended up growing on me.

The Service

Rodeo Goat’s entrance is guarded, if you will, by a bouncer that holds a list, in which you sign your name and wait to be called. Now, I had no clue of what I was doing whilst actually finding out how the process was and the bouncer was nothing but helpful and friendly. We put our name in and less than five minutes in, we were ushered to our seats. Our server was great and attentive, helped us with some doubts, upsold some fries (which I’m glad she did) and got everything right. As far as service and ambience went, Rodeo Goat was the most solid restaurant I’ve gone through as a blogger. Only the food was left to judge.

The Food

Sadly enough, we couldn’t order from the VAST (extremely vast) selection of beers Rodeo Goat had due to reasons that enveloped turning twenty-one. We still went for the Elote Burger, de Salted Sow Burger and some fries.

The Elote

The Elote Burger was a a beef & chorizo patty topped with elote, roasted poblano peppers, queso fresco, sweet guajillo glaze, and lime-mint crema. Only a glance at the description would’ve shown that a lot of thought was put into constructing this menu, albeit being what some might condescendingly label a “just a burger place”. The burger was excellent and all the flavors complemented each other.

Salted Sow

What I liked to describe as an “Italian” burger (in a Texas ice house). Made up of beef and Italian sausage, prosciutto, tomato, basil pesto, basil leaves, mozzarella and balsamic mayo. This burger as well, was just spot on, juicy, packed with flavor and generous in size. The balsamic mayonnaise was out of this world.

Fries

Individually, not the most mind-blowing fries in the world. Yet their texture really complemented the burger, and not being overly salted, coming with a special ketchup-based sauce, they really hit the spot perfectly.

Conclusion

Rodeo Goat was definitely a pick that I would take again, although I will wait a pair of months for the next occasion, where I will be able to try some of the beers and I’m sure will make the experience just so much more enjoyable. Legal or not, I can’t recommend enough this place, go and you won’t be disappointed.
